What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned in your career?
As part of my career, and life, I’ve learned that change is not always a bad thing. This is something that should be embraced. Change is a sign of growth – self growth and business growth. When change is welcomed, it can be a fun and challenging experience that can show you who you have become.
What does a typical day for you look like?
With starting the new position, my days are filled with training activities and meetings, which will aid in my ability to perform a solo validation. As with any position, I do find that timeline and priorities change, which keeps me on my toes and excited for the next activity.
Tell us a little bit about what your role is at Promega.
I have been with Promega for a little over two years. I first started as a Field Support Scientist for Clinical and Academic customers. Recently, I have transferred my role to a Global Validation Scientist within the Genetic Identity group. My current responsibilities include performing laboratory work and/or data analysis as part of a validation service agreement. In addition, I provide presentations on post validation work and technical solutions throughout the validation process.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
My team and customers! This team is supportive, passionate and excited to do the work and support their customers. They inspire me to work hard, work efficiently, and encourage me along the way. I enjoy customer interactions where I can help them, learn from them, and have great conversations at the same time.
Where do you want to travel to, but have never been?
There are so many places that I want to visit. Among my top places: Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Norway.
When you have an hour of free time, what do you like to do?
This depends on the weather… After a fresh snow or a nice sunny fall day, I love going for a short hike at the park a few minutes from my house. Otherwise, taking the dog for a walk around the block is great too. When the weather is more questionable, I like to read or attempt my skills at crochet, which has been a slow, but fun process for me.
If you could describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?
Positive, reliable, short
Name two songs that would be on the soundtrack of your life.
Tennessee Whiskey – Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake Home – Marc Broussard
What is your favorite sport to watch?
I enjoy watching American football, especially the Seattle Seahawks, or my local team the Cleveland Browns. When the time allows, I love watching European and LaLiga football (AKA soccer).
