Successful short tandem repeat (STR) results rely heavily on software that aids in data interpretation. GeneMarker®HID Software for Spectrum CE Systems (GMHID-Spectrum) is designed for analysis of STR data generated by capillary electrophoresis (CE) systems, including the Spectrum Compact and Spectrum CE Systems. GMHID-Spectrum allows genotyping using an allelic ladder and is optimized for human identification (HID) applications, including forensic casework analysis, databasing, missing person identification and relationship testing. The analysis software provides a suite of integrated, post-genotyping applications that share its intuitive and easily accessible interface.

1. Broad kit compatibility. GMHID-Spectrum is compatible with commercial STR chemistries, including PowerPlex® and GenePrint® Systems from Promega, as well as custom STR chemistries. The software supports CE instrument data files from numerous platforms, including Promega (.promega, .fsa) and Applied Biosystems (.fsa, .hid).
2. Work smarter, not harder. GMHID-Spectrum includes several features that enable laboratories to quickly and confidently analyze and interpret their STR analyses. For instance, users can automatically select the best allelic ladder for each sample in the dataset. Additionally, rather than requiring a user to navigate a lengthy and cumbersome file “tree”, the software offers a streamlined “copy and paste” of individual sample files into an import window.
3. Improved staff efficiency and effectiveness. Analysis of samples in GMHID-Spectrum is faster than GeneMapper® ID-X and can be completed in seconds, rather than minutes. This frees your team to do more urgent and critical tasks. The Run Wizard includes pre-installed templates for each Promega STR kit, eliminating the need to download and import panels, bins and stutter files. Additionally, templates can easily be shared among staff; no need to “reinvent the wheel”.
4. Time saving tools. GMHID-Spectrum is equipped with password control, an extensive user management system and a built-in audit trail ensuring that unauthorized individuals are unable to inadvertently modify a project or settings. Access rights for each user may be selected by the administrator. Users must provide the authorized password to open the program. The login information is then used to generate an audit trail, complete history of program usage and electronic verification of user and parameters in the final allele report.
5. Quickly compare data. A Project Comparison Tool allows users to quickly compare data analyzed in two different projects. Users may want to perform such a comparison to assess differences between analysts’ analyses; changes in run or analysis parameters; or results generated from two different capillary electrophoresis instruments. This tool can reduces the time required for administrative review of analysis results and software validation.
