Forensic laboratories performing Sanger sequencing can now use Promega chemistry on any capillary electrophoresis (CE) platform. The Promega ProDye™ Terminator Sequencing System, launching in October, can be implemented on any CE instrument, including the benchtop Spectrum Compact CE System.
The ProDye™ Terminator Sequencing System provides an improved method of fluorescent Sanger sequencing using a proprietary thermostable DNA polymerase included in the master mix. Compatible with a variety of DNA templates, the ProDye™ Terminator Sequencing System can be used with the Spectrum Compact CE System, as well as the Applied Biosystems® 3130, 3130xl, 3500, 3500xl, 3730, 3730xl and SeqStudio Genetic Analyzers. The ProDye™ Terminator Sequencing System uses dTMR, dCXR, dRSixG and dROneTen terminator dyes—the same dyes contained in the BigDye®Terminator V3.1 Cycle Sequencing Kit.
The ProDye™ Terminator Sequencing System is compatible with a variety of thermal cyclers and the simple cycling protocol is designed for obtaining maximum read lengths. All the components for the sequencing reaction are included in a ready-to-use, pre-mixed format: just add your template and the template-specific primer. Additional 5X Sequencing Buffer and Nuclease-Free water is included.
