Today we’ll meet Stephen Lupton, the Business Manager for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region.

Tell us a little bit about what your role is at Promega.

My role is coordinating our European team with the different European branches, but also having an active role in going to conferences and visiting customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

What motivates you to succeed?

Motivation comes from working with a functional and fun team… Being able to mix leisure, pleasure and work in one is an amazing melting pot that’s kept me at Promega for a little over 25 years.

What does a typical day for you look like?

That’s the great thing about being in such a role… Every day and every week is different. Never a dull moment.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Working in an international environment, with all that it brings. Understanding different cultures, languages and people… both with colleagues and customers. I was brought up between England and France in a bilingual environment, so it’s always comforting in a way to be seeing life from different angles.

If you were to write your memoirs (or if your life was a movie), what would the title be?

A Tale of Two Cities, but I think the title has already been taken

What’s your favorite holiday moment?

Being on the ferry from Calais to Dover… childhood memories of going back and forth between England and France which we’ve kept with our kids over the last 13 years

What’s your favorite movie and why?

Back to the Future… The only film I’ve watched over 20 times. When I watched it again with my kids over the past couple of years, it was amazing to see how such an old movie could still amaze kids more than other films with way better special effects.

Name two songs that would be on the soundtrack of your life.

Shape of my heart by Sting

Father Son by Peter Gabriel

Favorite show to binge watch?

Stranger Things, which I watched with my teenager. All those little references, easter eggs and winks at modern life and the 80s… explaining how Dungeons and Dragons was our version of computer games at the time was challenging

Thanks Stephen for this little insight! If you have questions for Stephen or about Promega, please ask!
