What is GloFi?
GloFi is a flexible connectivity solution that ensures your MyGlo instrument can connect to the ProNect® Data Platform, regardless of your lab's network infrastructure. Using the Connect2ProNect desktop application, you can easily set up and manage your connection through the method that works best for your environment.
Before using GloFi, customers must review and formally accept the GloFi Terms and Conditions. Acceptance is required prior to device activation as part of the qualification and request process.
MyGlo Connectivity Methods with GloFi
Choose the connection method that fits your lab:
- Connect to Wi-Fi: 5 GHz Wi-Fi – Connect to your lab's 5 GHz wireless network
- Connect with Ethernet Cable – Wired connection to your lab's network
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi Hotspot – Creates a wireless connection from GloFi to one or more MyGlo instruments
- *Use Cellular Data: Cellular – Uses cellular network, work anywhere with cell signal—ideal for field or remote locations without network infrastructure
- *Use Cellular Data: Cellular Hotspot – Same as cellular + creates a wireless connection from GloFi to one or more MyGlo instruments
*Customer provides cellular data plan and SIM card
What is 'Hotspot'?
When configured as a 'hotspot' GloFi broadcasts a Wi-Fi network to create a wireless connection from GloFi to one or more MyGlo instruments. The benefits of 'hotspot' are:
- Greater freedom in placement of GloFi within your environment - not limited to the length of USB cable
- Allows for connection of multiple MyGlo instruments to a single GloFi - add MyGlos without requiring additional GloFi
Important Note About GloFi Hotspot Management
When using GloFi as a hotspot to connect multiple MyGlo instruments, all connected devices are managed by a single ProNect account. To disconnect MyGlo instruments and switch to another connectivity solution, the original ProNect account holder must disconnect the devices through their account. This safeguard prevents accidental disconnection when other MyGlo instruments are actively connected to the hotspot.
Availability
GloFi is available by request through your local Promega representative or Promega Service & Support. All requests require review and acceptance of the GloFi Terms and Conditions prior to device activation.
Whitelisting Your GloFi on the Network
